Try-On Session with The Red Wedding

So you’ve booked your try-on session — or you’re thinking about it — and wondering what actually happens when you come to The Red Wedding. Whether you’re here to find the perfect Qun Kua, Ma Kua, or exploring something lighter like our Xiu He Fu or Chino Collection and Tang Jacket, we want your experience to feel relaxed, meaningful, and well-guided.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect during your visit:

1. A Warm Welcome – From Me, Janet

I’m Janet, founder of The Red Wedding, and I’ll be the one personally attending to you. With over 18 years of experience helping couples choose traditional Chinese wedding attire, I believe in giving genuine, honest suggestions — just like how I’d help a close friend or younger sibling getting married.

Expect:

  • A warm, no-pressure session

  • Friendly guidance tailored to your preferences and body type

  • An experience that’s informative, not intimidating

💬 We don't do hard-selling here. The session is for you to explore, ask, and discover what works for you.

2. Try On a Curated Selection of Attire

While our online catalogue gives you a taste, your try-on session opens up a wider range of designs and sizes not listed publicly.

You’ll get to:

We carry a broad range of sizes, so even with rental pieces, you’ll find options that fit beautifully and comfortably.

3. Personal Styling Advice — Beyond Just the Outfit

This is where we dive deeper. We’ll talk about:

  • How different cuts and embroidery styles work on you

  • Matching your outfit with makeup, hair, and accessories

  • Coordinating couple looks using colour play, not just matching red-for-red

You’re welcome to bring your partner, family or friend — we’ll always make room for honest feedback and shared opinions.

4. Practical Tips You Might Not Have Considered

Over the years, I’ve picked up plenty of tips couples wish they knew earlier — and I’ll gladly share them during your session.

These might include:

  • When and how to wear your different outfits (tea ceremony, gatecrash, banquet)

  • Suggestions for dressing parents and in-laws

  • How to plan your timeline if you want photos in your Qun Kua but also have a tight schedule

5. What Happens After the Try-On Session?

By the end of your session, you’ll have:

  • A clearer idea of what suits you

  • An understanding of rental vs purchase options

  • The chance to reserve a piece (with a deposit) or take your time to consider — no pressure

We’ll recap everything discussed, including outfit combinations or styling suggestions, if you need more time to decide.

💡 FAQ: Your Try-On Session at The Red Wedding

Q1: How long does a trial session usually take?

Most sessions last 60 to 75 minutes, depending on whether you're trying individual pieces or a couple's set. We’ll keep the pace relaxed so you have enough time to explore.

Q2: Do I need to bring anything with me?

Just come in light makeup and a bra with good support, if you’re trying on outfits. If you have inspiration photos, colour themes, or questions — feel free to bring them along!

Q3: Can I bring someone with me?

Yes — we welcome you to bring your partner, a friend, or family members for support and feedback. Just keep it to a maximum of 4 pax, so we can enjoy the space comfortably.

Q4: I want something traditional, but not too formal or elaborate — is there an alternative to the Qun Kua?

Absolutely. Our Chino Collection is a lighter, modern alternative inspired by traditional Chinese elements. It’s perfect for brides who want something elegant yet easy to move in — ideal for ROM, tea ceremony, or a second outfit change.

Q5: Is there a try-on fee or deposit needed?

Try-on sessions are complimentary, strictly by appointment only. A deposit is only required when you decide to reserve a piece.
